Music repertoires on radio stations in the town of Santa Maria da Boa Vista - PE

Abstract

This paper presents the results and discussions of a research that sought to understand the repertoires broadcast on radio stations in the town of Santa Maria da Boa Vista, Pernambuco state, Brasil. The research problem consisted of identifying songs and artists most played, music styles, their content and characteristics. The study produced knowledge about the performance of radio as
a medium of musical diffusion and social articulator, presenting musical contents experienced in the context studied through listening, and what stands out in the analyzed schedules. The radio stations' schedules were listened at defined times, then quantitative tables were drawn on the songs most played during the program. Qualitative considerations were made based on the quantitative data collected. Through the qualitative analysis of the data, certain characteristics about the songs that
were among the most played in the studied period were perceived, both musical and social.
